
It's been said that some of the greatest creative minds in the world have suffered some kind of tragedy to make them pursue their artistic endeavor to the ends of the earth. It's possible the same could be said about jewelry designer Karin Collins, founder of SpoonFed Art.

Collins uses a unique technique to create her stunning pendants -- she hacks the handles off spoons and fills them with all things sticky, shiny and bright to create her works of art. The response has been whirlwind. Collins' work has been featured in NYLON Magazine and Health Magazine.

Though Collins initially counted her customer age base as teens and early 20s, her clientele now spans from ages 9 to 90. Though she doesn't consider herself much of a trendy person, Collins does cop to admiring Anna Sui -- "She combines all the elements that I love... from art nouveau to rock and roll."
"I draw inspiration from lots of things, from whatever is going on in my life to a painting or a movie I just saw, to a song on the radio," Collins says. "But more specifically, I'm a very visual person so when designing the pendants, I really just trust my eye. If something catches my eye, it will go into one of my spoon pendants."
Collins counts the pendants she's made for family and friends as the ones with the most sentimental value, however three pendants -- "Hayley," "
"I'm not sure what my ultimate creation would be," she admits. "I think that indicates an end. I'm just focused on right now and what excites me about what I'm doing in the present... and I'm so happy with my creation of SpoonFed Art!"
SpoonFed Art continues to be a supporter of the National Eating Disorders Association to keep the business focused on the reason it was started -- to help heal.
